Christopher Cross had a lot to live up to following his self-titled debut album, which had sold a million copies (now up to four million), spawned four Top 40 hits, including the number one hit, "Sailing," and won him five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year (the last two for "Sailing"), and Best New Artist. So, he took three years to make Another Page, which, unsurprisingly, sounded a lot like its predecessor. Cross concentrated on smooth pop arrangements, over which be sang greeting-card romantic sentiments in an innocent, Brian Wilson-like tenor. No one would confuse the result with anything truly heartfelt, or with real rock & roll, but Cross' soothing approach was still good enough to put two of his songs, "All Right" and "No Time for Talk," into the Top 40 and earn a gold record certification. Then, nearly a year after the album's release, TV soap opera General Hospital began featuring the maudlin ballad "Think of Laura," and Another Page suddenly had a third single, this one a Top Ten hit.

Having suffered a commercial decline with the ballad-filled Another Page, Christopher Cross took a harder rocking approach with his third album, Every Turn of the World. Gone were the L.A. session aces and the SoCal chorus of famous fellow pop singers, as Cross wielded his SynthAxe and producer/co-writer, Michael Omartian his keyboards, along with a rhythm section, on a selection of up-tempo songs, many of which had 'save-the-world' themes. It didn't work. "Charm the Snake," the typically energetic lead-off single, sputtered on the charts, while Cross' core audience of "adult contemporary" ballad fans deserted him, and the album was a sales disaster. If anybody had tried turning over the LP and sampling tunes like The Beach Boys tribute, "Love Found a Home," they would have discovered a couple of more characteristic Cross songs, but it was too little, too late.

Although it went ignored at the time, Rendezvous was Christopher Cross' best album in ten years. It wasn't because he changed his style -- he remained an MOR balladeer with a fondness for slick productions and sentimental melodies -- but there's a little bit of an edge to his writing, and his songs are uniformly memorable. It may be a minor victory, but it's a victory nonetheless, and it's one that makes Rendezvous welcome to many fans of his first two albums.

Christopher Cross made a belated comeback in 1995 with Window. Cross hadn't made any great changes to his adult contemporary ballad stylings, although the record certainly bears the stamp of mid-'90s production techniques. Perhaps he would have been able to re-enter the charts if he had been able to come up with a selection of material that was melodically engaging, but most of the record is devoid of anything resembling hooks; instead, it relies on its production to make an impact. As a result, Window is a bland collection of faceless, mellow pop that works only as background music.

Mike Mareen was born in post-war Berlin, West Germany and grew up in Lüneburg. His first musical success was with the band Cemetery Institution who played at Hamburg's Star-Club. Mareen later became a merchant sailor, a job which eventually took him to New York City where he played with several American groups. Upon his return to Europe, Mareen became involved with the production of Italo Disco records. During the 1980s, he had some considerable success, with frequent television appearances in Germany and Eastern Europe. His biggest hits were 'Dancing In The Dark' (1985) and 'Love Spy' (1986).

Biography by Ron Wynn Though born in Jamaica, vocalist Precious Wilson spent her childhood in England, later moving to Connecticut. She sang gospel extensively as a teen before returning to England. Wilson joined the Silent Eruption, which later became Eruption, and recorded singles produced by Frank Farian. Farian produced Wilson's Epic debut LP in 1981, On The Race Track, and the singles "If I Loved You Less" and "I Need You" in 1985. The band Monkey Business began in 2000 and immediately after publishing their first record quickly became an overnight sensation. After that, all four records of this great funky band from Prague opened to enthusiastic reviews and sold out concert tours. Anything less would be considered a failure, as bandleader and producer Roman Holy was not satisfied with having the best Prague funkateers joining his new outfit. Instead, he invited funk legend Fred Wesley to add some old school funk flavour. Fred Wesley, best known for his time as James Brown’ s band leader and author of several hit records, including Pass the Peas and Houseparty, worked with Monkey Business on their first two albums, writing the horn section arrangements and leading the section in the studio. Another notable guest was David Williams, a regular of Michael Jackson and Madonna records. MB´s albums offer tracks with 99% English lyrics, tackling matters ranging from career choices to the creation of the universe. All records were published on the Sony Music Columbia label.

The Sticky & Sweet Tour is the eighth worldwide concert tour by American singer-songwriter Madonna to support her eleventh studio album Hard Candy. It is Madonna's first major venture from her new recording and business deal with Live Nation, following the Hard Candy Promo Tour. The tour gained many achievements in 2008, including becoming the highest grossing tour by a solo artist, breaking Madonna's record for the highest grossing tour in history by a female artist - achieved with her Confessions Tour, which grossed US$194.7 million. Having taken a more up-tempo approach on Every Turn of the World, Cross returned to pop balladeering here, and though tracks like "I Will (Take You Forever)" certainly matched the work of such gutless peers as Peter Cetera and Richard Marx, who were eating up the charts in 1988, Cross was treated as a has-been, bleating out his songs of generalized romantic and filial devotion over synth-strings and drum programming.

Italian pop star Fiorella Mannoia started getting involved in show business while participating in a movie called Non Cantare, Spara! at the age of 13. She recorded her first single in 1969. Mannoia's debut album, Mannoia Foresi & Co, was released by RCA in 1972.
She made her first appearance at the prestigious San Remo's Festival in 1981, singing "Cafe Nero Bollente." Mannoia returned to that same event in 1984 with "Come Si Cambia." A year later, Momento Delicado was released by Ariston, followed by a self-titled record in 1986 and Di Terra E Di Vento in 1989, featuring Chico Buarque's classic "Oh Che Sara." In 1994, Fiorella Mannoia teamed up with Brazilian singer/songwriter Caetano Veloso, recording "Il Culo del Mondo."She made her first appearance at the prestigious San Remo's Festival in 1981, singing "Cafe Nero Bollente." Although nothing short of a comprehensive box set can do full justice to Peggy Lee, this collection will be a welcome addition to any collection, for it includes a number of essential tracks as well several less often heard but equally impressive recordings. In general, the collection focuses on recordings that have a distinctly bluesy undercurrent, such as "Why Don't You Do Right" and "Fever." Regardless of the specific track, Lee's vocals are superior on every recording and her interpretations are Peggy Lee at her finest, irreproachable throughout. Strongly recommended.

The Festivalbar is an Italian singing competition that takes place in the most important Italian squares during summer, such as the Piazza del Duomo, Milan; the first time it was held was in 1964. The competition is held throughout the summer and the final round will always take place at the Arena in Verona after 3-4 events in various cities of Italy.
Originally, the Festivalbar was a competition made with data from jukeboxes in Italian bars, so the competition was a one evening event transmitted by the RAI. From 1983 Mediaset started to transmit this programme and the Festivalbar would change its location every week. The original promoter of the Festivalbar was Vittorio Salvetti. After his death in 1998 his son Andrea Salvetti took the reins.
